The Importance of Segmenting Your Contacts
AdvisorStream allows you to segment your contacts and create multiple lists based on specific criteria. We suggest that at a minimum, segment your contact lists between clients and warm prospects. Segmenting this way gives you the opportunity to stay better organized in your communications. Your client list will allow you to focus on generating referrals, scheduling appointments, identifying larger share of wallet opportunities, or proactively following-up, while your prospect list will allow you to learn more about your leads and how you can help them.
To be even more effective, take a deeper approach to segmenting your contacts into multiple lists. Your contacts aren’t all the same -they are at different life stages, some are retired, others are preparing for retirement. Segmented lists will help you identify key differences and provide clients with the information and opportunities they are looking for. Ultimately creating better more meaningful engagement and boosting your success rate. Statistics show that having a segmented email marketing list will improve your open and view rates while lowering your Unsubscribe/ spam rates.

The AdvisorStream platform allows a unique contact to resign in multiple lists, but will only live within the All Contacts once and only receive the weekly newsletter once. AdvisorStream will only send unique communications to a contact once.
We encourage you to have your contacts in separate Excel or .CSVs before uploading. This will allow you to upload each list one after the other, and naming the list accordingly.

How to Segment Existing Contacts:
Step 1: Head to the Contacts dashboard
Step 2: Begin by creating contact lists. Click create new list and then name the list
Step 3: Select the contacts you would like to add to the new list
Step 4: Click add to list, and then select the appropriate list and click ok
